Some of the most extraordinary-looking knitting is defined by the look of its finished edges. In this three-hour class, you’ll practice three specific techniques that will take all kinds of projects to the next level:

           1.         The Knitted Hem: It works as a cast on, a bind off, an edge binding, and everyplace in between. Work it with a straight knife edge or a pretty picot; patterned or plain, narrow or wide. You’ll see examples and unlock their secrets.

           2.         Two-Sided Pickup for Edges: The sexy cousin of the Knitted Hem, this little-known technique will let you cover a bound-off or cut edge from both sides of the knitting at the same time, then you’ll be all set to work an attached collar, hood, cuff, or anything else, without sewing it on.

           3.         Latvian Braid: This traditional technique looks almost like surface embellishment, but it’s actually knitted right in. And it looks much more intricate than it is; in fact, it’s super fun to execute. Use it to add or repeat areas of color on edges (or other places) that need a little something extra.

Registered students will receive a supply list and swatching instructions prior to the class.
