This two-session Fair Isle class will give you experience in two-color knitting. Students will learn how to knit ribbing, border, and the "wheel" of the tam on double-point or circular needles, in four colors (though only two colors will be used in any one round). We will talk about yarn dominance, holding the yarns in two hands, weaving yarns to reduce snagging, reading tam charts, border and wheel patterns, and shaping and finishing the tam. In addition, Beth brings a deep understanding of the traditions behind these tams, which she shares generously with students. She will also cover how to design your own tam.
Level: Intermediate.
NOTE: You may purchase a kit for this class for an additional $40, including shipping. Kit includes four colors of Elemental Affects Cormo sport-weight yarn, enough for one tam. Students choosing the kit option will be contacted about choosing their colorway. If you do not purchase a kit, you will need the following amounts of sport-weight yarn: approx. 2.5 oz. of the main color; and approx. 1.5 oz. of three additional colors.
Students will also need: 16" circular needles US size 2 and 4; one set size 4 double-point needles; stitch markers.
Yes, the time posted is Pacific time. Also, we received notification that your kit arrived. We hope you enjoy the class!
Hi, I am registered for Beth Brown Reinsel’s Tam class. I have a question:
• Is the time posted on the website for the class Pacific Daylight Time? I live in EDT zone and need to adjust
Also, I haven’t yet received my kit and hope it will arrive in time!
Warmly,
Rachel
