February 3 & 10 ~ 11 am - 1 pm ~ $85 + materials. Class fee includes "Little Leaf Lace Scarf" pattern.
Embark on your first lace-knitting adventure with Portland-based teacher and lace designer extraordinaire Sivia Harding (siviaharding.com) as your guide. Make a delightful openwork scarf while learning all of the skills that will stand you in good stead as you go forth and knit lace. We will cover charts, keeping your place, reading your knitting, fixing simple mistakes, clever cast-on and bind-offs for lace, and all the stitch mastery you'll need to make Sivia's "Little Leaf Lace Scarf".
Level: Adventurous beginner. Skills required: knitting, purling, casting on, binding off, simple increases and decreases, yarn over.
Materials:
- 400 yds. of Elemental Affects "Civility," or comparable sport-weight yarn
- US size 6 (4mm) circular needle, or size to get your desired gauge (we will discuss gauge in the first class)
- Stitch markers in two different colors or types
- Tapestry needle
- Note-taking materials.
Homework: Roll your yarn into a ball.
After you register, we will contact you about how you can order the Civility sport-weight yarn from our dyer.
I would be very interested in taking this class at a later date, as the February dates conflict with another class I’m taking. Please let me know if it will be offered again. Thank You!
