This is a 3-part class where we will create a pair of eggcellent socks! We will discuss sock construction and techniques for stranded colorwork.

Topics covered include:

  • Creating a stretchy cast on
  • Top-down construction
  • Sock Anatomy
  • Techniques for stranded colorwork
  • Creating a heel flap
  • Turning the heel
  • Picking up stitches for the gusset
  • Gusset shaping
  • Toe shaping
  • Kitchener Stitch

Skill Level:

Intermediate. Required skills: Basic knit and purl skills. Knitting in the round. Top-down sock construction is helpful.

Supplies Needed:

  • Needles: - For ribbing and stockinette: US 1 (2.23mm), 32-inch circular for magic loop, or DPN, or 2 circulars, or a 9-inch circular needle (your preference)
  • Needles - For color work: US 1.5 (2.5mm), 32-inch circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 9-inch circular needle (your preference). Needles can also be purchased at Bazaar Girls.
  • Yarn: - Main Color: 460yds/100g Baah Footloose fingering weight yarn INCLUDED. - Contrast color #1 (White) INCLUDED - Contrast color #2 (yellow) INCLUDED - Red Scrap yarn: INCLUDED

Homework: Come to Bazaar Girls BEFORE CLASS to pick up and WIND your yarn (and get needles if you need them) so you are ready to go.
