This is a 2-part class where we will discuss and practice key concepts of beginning cable knitting.

Topics covered include:

  • German Cast on
  • 2 by 2 ribbing
  • Cabling to the front
  • Cabling to the back
  • How to interpret a cable chart
  • Making right-leaning and left-leaning increases to create a thumb gusset
  • Putting thumb stitches on a holder

Required Skills: Basic knit and purl skills.

Supplies Needed:

  • US 5 (3.5mm) double-point needles, magic loop, or mini cable. You are welcome to bring the type of needles that you are most comfortable with. If you don’t know what to use, then it is suggested that you use a US 5 with a 32” cable so you can do magic loop. Needles can also be purchased at Bazaar Girls.
  • 1 Skein of Cascade Yarns, Eco Duo (70% Alpaca and 30% merino), INCLUDED. Color can be picked at the beginning of class
  • 1 Cable Needle INCLUDED
