Lisa Ellis will be offering two classes on

Saturday, November 23!

Knitwear designer and teacher extraordinaire Lisa Ellis lisaellisdesigns.com will be joining us from Gig Harbor for a day of knitting techniques that will boost your skills and give you new projects to think about. Lisa is an energetic and fun teacher with lots of ideas.

Helix Knitting

10:30 - 1:30 pm ~ $55
Helix knitting is an ingenious, simple technique for knitting stripes in the round in 2, 3 or even 6 colors, with no jogs when changing colors and no floats to carry in the back. This technique can be used for any object that can be knitted in the round: socks, hats, cowls, tea cozies: you name it. It’s a great stash buster and good for those last-minute gifts. Students please bring to class: 2, 3 or more skeins Blue Sky Woolstock 50 g skeins in solid colors, preferably contrasting colors (available in the store); US size 6 (4.0 mm) 16-inch circular needles and double pointed needles, also available in the store. Please no magic loop or 2 sets of circulars. This class is for beginners who know how to knit. Min. 4/Max. 8

Bavarian Twisted Stitch

2:30 - 5:30 pm ~ $55

Bavarian Twisted Stitch combines clean and well defined twisted stitches with traveling cables, many of which are 2-stitch cables that don’t require cable needles. The result is a classic design that looks great on men, women and children. Lisa will teach you a two-color cast-on, how to read a Bavarian chart, and how to work cables without a cable needle, as well as how to do the four basic Bavarian cable stitches. You’ll be yodeling with delight in no time! Class project will be a bulky-weight neck gaiter or headband. Students please bring to class: one skein bulky or super-bulky yarn and appropriate size needles (available in the store). After you learn the technique, you’ll be able to knit on any weight yarn, but it’s easier to learn on bulky. Please no magic loop or 2 sets of circulars.
This class is for intermediate-level knitters (you must be able to knit in the round and have had some experience knitting cables). Min. 4/Max. 8
