The retreat will be held Thursday, April 28\u00a0– Sunday, May 1, 2022, in Port Townsend, Wa, at the <\/strong>Northwest Maritime Center<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spend four days knitting in a beautiful place, surrounded by expert teachers, Indie dyers, and fellow fiber fanatics!<\/p>\n

We recommend early registration. Our\u00a0last retreat’s\u00a0returning participants nearly filled our event and based on a show of hands, we are expecting the same this year!<\/p>\n

Yoriko Oki\u00a0kicks off this year’s event with an informal talk\u00a0for all participants<\/strong>, sharing her favorite\u00a0tricks in picking colors to help you create projects you are proud of. A perfect start to our knitting weekend.\u00a0Yoriko is also bringing some of her beautifully hand-dyed yarn to sell in our “market”.<\/p>\n

We will continue\u00a0our tradition of having a cocktail (knitting) party on Friday night in the suite at The Swan Hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to the 3 classes<\/strong> with Keith Leonard & Anne Berk<\/strong> included in your tuition, Ann<\/strong>\u00a0Budd<\/strong> will be available for one on one consultations throughout the retreat as the “Knit Dr.”<\/strong> So be sure to bring any projects and questions that have stalled your knitting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are excited to have\u00a0Jeane deCoster and Mary Elizabeth Scott <\/strong>returning in 2022. Mary and Jeane bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience, and lots of fun. Mary is offering a talk during High Tea at Cafe Tenby, on Sunday after the retreat ends. REGISTER HERE<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Keith gained a love for knitting at the age of eleven when he joined a lunchtime knitting program at school in his hometown of Haworth, New Jersey. After working at four major knitting stores in Upstate New York, New Jersey, and New York City, he realized there was no specialized service for knitwear finishing. He took the initiative to start his own business, called Knits All Done<\/strong>, a service for knitters to outsource their knitted items for professional finishing. Keith\u2019s expertise in finishing and knitting then led to requests from yarn shops and knitting guilds to teach his techniques. He now travels the country teaching classes while also selling his own custom Zen Yarn Garden, Three Irish Girls, Malabrigo, and Koigu yarns and colors<\/strong>. He is also the American distributor forSoulwool<\/strong>, a hand-dyed Merino yarn from Israel.

In this class, you will use your prepared swatches to learn Keith\u2019s tricks behind five different seams. You will also learn the correct way to pick up stitches across both the top and sides of our knitting. Had fun in \u201cflawless Finishing?\u201d or perhaps you are a finishing pro that wants to jump to the next level in your knitwear-finishing. In this class, we will bypass basic seaming and jump into more complex finishing techniques. At the end of this class, you will have the skills to conquer the finishing techniques of any project. Learn how to set in different types of sleeves, master duplicate stitch while weaving in your tails, learn how to line up horizontal stripes, and more! This class has minimal homework.<\/p>\n

In this class, Keith will teach you how to properly work short rows using two different colors of yarn to create 1 of 24 squares that combined turn into a beautiful afghan called \u201cThe Lizard Ridge.\u201d<\/strong> Learn how short rows build your knitting and where to use them in different projects. Disclaimer:<\/strong> Once started, this project will be hard to put down. Be prepared for addiction, laughter, and bursts of color!<\/p>\n

Anne Berk was certified by TKGA as a Master Knitter in 2003. Anne has designed for many yarn companies, published DVDs on intarsia technique with Interweave, and she has 3 classes on Craftsy, teaching various colorwork techniques. She has written patterns and articles for many publications, and designs can be found in her Ravelry store. She teaches classes nationally for events, Knitting Guilds, and Yarn stores on subjects ranging from Argyle socks to Zipper insertion into hand-knits.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnnetarsia Knits\u201d is a reference book for learning to knit intarsia flat or in the round, in stockinette or garter stitch. The book includes workshops, a motif library, and 28 patterns for using the techniques. Content is designed for knitters of all skill levels<\/p>\n

Edgings are an important design element, providing beauty and function. Learn how to pick up and knit stitches into the side of your knitting, to stabilize the edge. We will demystify the process of the perfect installation of zippers into hand-knits, learning basic hand-sewing stitches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students Should Bring:<\/b><\/span> Projects that are ready for edging or zippers are welcome. Bring supplies suitable for those projects. <\/span><\/p>\n
