On The Needles & What’s New in the Shop!

One of our favorite menders, Erin of Wrenbirdarts in Bellingham (wrenbirdarts.com), has sent us a trunk show of her mending kits, modern hankies, and embroidery transfer kits. Erin taught a sold-out class last year, and we look forward to when she can join us in person once again. Come and stock up on supplies to artfully repair or embellish clothing and household objects. Wrenbirdarts will be here until the end of December.

We have new yarn coming from

‘Fleur De Stitch’d’!

Micah Smith owner  & talented indie dyer

We are always sad when a friend of the shop moves away.  Three years ago that’s just what Micah did.

She had moved to Oak Harbor in 2016 when her then-boyfriend, now fiance, was stationed there and quickly discovered all the local yarn shops. Bazaar Girls was just a ferry ride away and knitting at the shop became a favorite past time. When Wayne was deployed again, home and family drew her back to New Orleans.

The knitting scene back home isn’t quite as rich as it is here in the PNW. “They’re more into cross stitch and needlepoint here.” That’s understandable considering the climate in New Orleans. Micah continues to knit despite the weather, and has taught her 9-year-old son!  Disappointed with the lack of great yarn in the local shops, she started to dye her own. Micah’s yarn company is called  ‘Fleur De Stitch’d’ – as a nod to the French culture she grew up in.

We are excited to bring in her beautiful hand-dyed fingering weight yarn – Voodoo

‘Voodoo’ is 75% SW Merino/25% Nylon. Each skein is 415 Yards/100g.

We did it!!! We knit from sunrise to sunset and helped Ann Budd @annbuddknits raise over $7000 for Alzheimer’s research.
