Dates: Aug. 8 & 22; Sept. 19; Oct. 24; Nov. 14 & 21.

Beth Brown-Reinsel (knittingtraditions.com) has spent her career studying Nordic, British Isle, and Baltic knitting traditions, and sharing this knowledge through patterns, classes, and workshops. We are thrilled to be offering Beth's Gansey class, a six-session workshop that will cover every aspect of this traditional British Isle fisherman's sweater, including Channel Island cast-on; traditional knit/purl patterns; underarm and neck gussets; and much else. Students will choose from two sweater patterns: cardigan style: "Classic Gansey Cardigan"; and pullover style: "Newhaven." Both patterns are viewable on Ravelry.

After you have registered, we will contact you about ordering your yarn for this class. Beth has specified that, in order to get the correct gauge for the patterns, students should use 3-ply Rauma Strikkegarn (a traditional Norwegian yarn) for the pullover; and Elemental Affects Cormo Worsted for the cardigan. Both are available at Bazaar Girls. You will be able to choose from multiple sizes of pattern and many colors of yarn.

Enrolled students will be invited to a Zoom trunk sale to help them choose yarn for this project. Saturday, July 17 from 4-5 Pacific time.

Sure! We’d love to have you join in. If you call the shop tomorrow (360) 379-9273, between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, Kerri can help you figure out what you would need for your sweater, and how much it would cost.

Are the class times Washington-state times? I’m on the East Coast and need to know for sure before I register. Thank you.

Thank you for hosting the wonderful FairIsle Tams class with Beth Brown Reinsel! Beth is truly an amazing teacher…clear communicator, detailed and with deep patience she guided us calmly through all the ins and outs of working the tams…. Now to experiment with more colors! I loved the colors in the kit you sent!
    With appreciation,
    Rachel
