Intermediate Slip-Stitch Colorwork with Faina Goberstein on Zoom

Oct192024

From 1 pm until 3 pm

At Zoom Meeting

$45 + materials

Level: basic knitting skills

The class will be recorded and available for one week afterward.

Many of you have tried slip-stitch knitting, but did you know that slip-stitch goes beyond "Mosaic" knitting? Way beyond. Join Faina as she shows us how to use the special woven slip-stitch knitting patterns to make this Interesting and free-spirited scarf. Woven slip-stitch patterns are the most versatile of all slip-stitch knitting, and require only one color per row.

You will learn four different slip-stitch patterns; three of them are woven slip-stitch. The scarf is worked sideways in three colors. You will also learn a simple crochet chain pattern to finish the edging.

In class, we will talk about the placement of patterns, choices of colors, modifications of size, making it suitable for everyone, and choosing different borders. You will have the opportunity to either follow the pattern or experiment with modifications.

Faina will show you more stitch patterns on swatches and samples of her designs.

Materials: You will be practicing the slip-stitch patterns on swatches in class. If you wish to go further and knit the project for this class, Faina's pattern "Blue Volna" is available for purchase HERE. This pattern would look lovely knit up with Jorstad Artisan Yarns' "Elemental Affects - Coastal". Pick your colors HERE. If you want to knit a version that's a bit more luxurious, stay tuned! We'll be introducing a new Cashmere yarn in the next week or two which would also make an excellent choice for creating this scarf. In addition, you'll need needles appropriate to the yarn, and the usual knitting tools.
