Knitting with more than one color opens up a whole new world of crafting goodness, but can initially seem a bit daunting. "So," you may ask yourself, "where do I start?" Look no further. This "Knit Your First Stranded Colorwork Hat" class is designed to teach you the skills and concepts you need to take your knitting to the next level. Join certified knitting instructor Karen Anderson to knit the classic PNW motif featured on the "North Cascades Beanie" from the book, "Knitting the National Parks," by Nancy Bates.

In this class, you'll learn how to: - Work with more than one strand of yarn at a time; - Understand color dominance concepts; - Achieve correct tension; - Read colorwork charts; - Cast on using the Twisted German Cast-On; - Work decreases in colorwork; - Properly finish and block your beanie for best results.

The class will include hands-on practice. In addition to in-class instruction, Karen will be available on Wednesday afternoons from 3-4:30 for drop-in help.

Please bring the following materials to the first class: - US size 5/3.75 mm, 16 in. long circular knitting needle; - US size 7/4.5 mm, 16 in. long circular knitting needle; - US size 7/4.5 mm double pointed needles, or your preferred needles for small-circumference knitting; - Two colors of smooth, worsted-weight yarn for practice in class.
